Rachel Demsick has had an artist's eye from the beginning. Growing up in the small town of Franklin, MI, she used art to make the world around her her own, whether it was painting designs across the walls of her teenage bedroom or filling endless journals with drawings and collages. After graduating high school, Rachel moved to Ann Arbor, where she studied art and design and began to take photographs of the city and her friends. An avid reader and a music fan from birth (thanks to her parents), she takes her inspiration from the books and songs she loves. Whether its a baby's enormous grey eyes staring out at you or red painted toenails wading in a river, Rachel's truth comes across in every photograph she takes. It is a truth that she finds in a shadow that cuts across a wall, in a hand shielding the sun, in the everyday moments that the rest of us let pass by.
